Global Permanente NW harnesses the talents and humanitarian passions of the people of Kaiser Permanente and their collaborating partners to: • Provide expertise and other resources to health care systems in under-resourced settings around the world. • Support teaching, training, and capacity-building to improve health care services in ways that endure. • Nurture a culture of service, compassion and global citizenship.
About This Cause
Global Perm NW is Global Health organization based in Portland, Oregon. Global Perm NW supports volunteer efforts by healthcare workers to help underserved communities in Africa and near home. We focus on increasing the capacity and quality of systems of care, so that benefits can be sustained over the long term. We believe deeply in partnership with the community we are serving, characterized by respect, cultural humility, and commitment. We currently have established partnerships in Ethiopia, Rwanda, and Portland. In Africa, current projects focus on women’s health, medical education, and capacity-building for acute hospital care. Global Perm NW is an all-volunteer organization with no paid staff. Contributions support the work of volunteers who generously donate their time and talents. We also provide highly impactful grants to our partners. Recent grants have helped to reduce maternal deaths in a region of Ethiopia, and have stimulated the creation of an exciting self-care program for the un-housed population in Portland.
