Mission Statement
The Stonecrest Fest, Inc. was created to celebrate the community of the newly established City of Stonecrest Georgia, located in the Southeast portion of Dekalb County. Its’ mission is to provide a series of events that lead up to the annual Stonecrest Fest held in the City and to foster community and business engagement via arts, health, entertainment, culture, heritage, history, education and more. The Stonecrest Fest is held on the 1st Saturday of October each year and the first festival was held in 2017 just 4 months after the City of Stonecrest was officially established. It occurred on the grounds of Flat Rock Archives. Flat Rock Archives is a community that was founded by a group of African American enslaved persons. Some of those descendants still live there today. Stonecrest Fest celebrates other Prominent Features of the city's Arabia Mountain Heritage area where more than 400 million years of plant and water life can be found, a Nature Preserve can be enjoyed and more. Stonecrest Fest, Inc. organization operates with the intention to be inclusive across the globe. Each year our community outreach efforts and pre-events that lead up to the culminating event expand beyond the city.
About This Cause
Stonecrest Fest, Inc.'s community outreach efforts are expansive. In the past, we have featured Cultural and Historical experiences at Flat Rock Archives, Health & Wellness venues at the Arabia Mountain Nature Preserve, Youth Entrepreneurs Young Boss Events with School Age Children, Ancestral Work Shops, Authors and Poetry at the local library, Senior Jamboree at the local Senior Center, Entertainment at various locations in the city, Car & Bike Shows, Chalk Art Walks, Fest Walk and most recently a Drone Soccer League which is a STEM based project for Middle School and High School Youth. Stonecrest Festival is more than a Festival...It's an experience. We foster innovative ideas to bring residents and festival goers various aspects of diverse entertainment, art, culture, health and wellness and education in general. For 2024 we will do most of the above activities. Other community outreach to youth includes a S.T.E.M component that has created 2 drone soccer teams of middle and high school youth to learn how to build drone soccer balls, repair, code and fly them in preparation for pre-events and the festival where the newest E-Sport of Drone Soccer Games will be demonstrated. We expect to expand these efforts exponentially as we inspire youth to consider career paths in Aviation, Science and Engineering possibilities such as: • AIR TRAFFIC CONTROLLERS • LOGISTICS AND MISSION CONTROL • A&P (AIRFRAME AND PIOLOT) TECHNICIANS • FABRICATION, AREOSPACE • MECHANICAL ENGINEERING • AVIONICS TECHNICIANS • SATELITE OPERATORS • SOFTWARE ENGINEERS We already have the support of Certified Drone Soccer pilots, Computer Science and Graphic organizations as well as the US Drone Soccer League. With Sponsorships and Donations each or any of the community outreach efforts will have a greater impact of positive interaction and activities for youth, families, business and communities in general.
