About This Cause
BraveOnes Foundation is a Huntington Beach, CA-based 501(c)(3) Nonprofit Organization founded in 2018 by lifelong friends, Jeff & Rose Kunze and David & Kendra Rosales. The inspiration behind founding this organization was the couples’ shared commitment to honor the life of the Kunze’s son, Hendrix. Our favorite little BraveOne passed away on August 1, 2017 at the tender age of 1 year. Hendrix had been in-and-out of Children’s Hospital of Orange County (CHOC) throughout his brief, but special time with us. He was tested for several genetic disorders and received treatment from multiple specialists. The CHOC NeuroScience Unit was Hendrix’s home away from home. When faced with such challenges, one’s perspective seems to change. There were times when Rose and Jeff walked out of the hospital expecting the world to have stopped, but life outside of CHOC kept marching on. Kendra and David were able to experience this from a “Best Friend Perspective.” Powerful experiences like these tend to capture your heart and stick with you forever. While each of us continues our lives performing day-to-day tasks, remembering that someone’s world may have stopped at that very moment, can motivate you to help. Many children and families are faced with similar challenges, so we are inspired to relieve some of the stress and allow children to focus on the joys of being a child. CURRENT CAMPAIGNS *Meaningful Meals BraveOnes partners with local restaurants to provide dinners for high-risk youth & children inpatient (& their families), as well as healthcare heroes during COVID. Live music is also provided when possible to help lift everyone's spirits. *Toys for Joy BraveOnes partners with Lakeshore Learning Center to provide high quality educational toys for children in need. *Children's Hospital of Orange County (CHOC) -Mental Health Resource Specialist As of October 2021, BraveOnes has contributed $45,000 towards our $70,000 commitment. -Neuroscience Unit Playroom As of November 2019, BraveOnes has donated $125,000 towards the $300,000 project.
