Mission Statement

SVIVAH’s mission is to inspire, support, connect, and celebrate womanhood. SVIVAH is a multigenerational, inclusive, powerful community of women – because nourished women mean a stronger community. SVIVAH is a platform to deliver an empowered communal experience for women, dedicated to the unique needs of women, created by us and for us. SVIVAH is a multigenerational, inclusive, powerful community of women. We are a diverse collective of womanhood that deserves to be inspired, supported, connected, and celebrated. SVIVAH launched in November 2018 as a pilot in the greater Washington DC area, with a goal of bringing women together over shared values and shared experiences across communities, while also widening the pipeline to the available resources, services, and programmatic content intended to support our best lives. In its community-building phase, SVIVAH attracted an audience of over 300 women ranging in ages, locations, and affiliations. Organizational partnerships continue to grow as agencies recognize that partnerships with SVIVAH both amplify their programs and also offer the ability to provide valuable, gender-segregated programming that might otherwise prove optically tricky. SVIVAH’s current programming offered access to varied female caregivers, fostered deep connections over the universal experience of transition and loss, inspired a communal approach towards amplifying and validated women’s anger. Our programs are designed by our community of women and engage multiple service providers, agencies, and educators dedicated to women’s wellness and empowerment. We are creating meaningful connections across generations and affiliations. We are facilitating conversations about the lives of women that need to be addressed as a collective. We are destigmatizing life-moments of challenge by reframing them as opportunities for tremendous growth and communal strength. We are committed to valuing the work of our educators with appropriate compensation. We are building a postpartum support network and a program dedicated to women’s voices in academic scholarship. We are crafting a communal experience that is valuable and relevant to the lives of women as women – not as mothers, not as future partners, not as volunteers, or philanthropists – as women.

About This Cause

There are few spaces in society that take a holistic approach to the life journey of womanhood and have the unique emotional, physical, sociological, and communal needs of women as their focus. In an ever-increasingly egalitarian society, there is need for a women-only space for women to convene, connect, and build confidence through community. Neurologically, women need the community of other women – women who share their values and life-experience. Our current communal structures are not designed to foster these neurologically critical connections. We need to invest in support networks built on shared experience rather than common demographics or location. The bounty of resources available to women have limited access points to the audience they are designed to serve. SVIVAH can serve as a platform for women-centered service providers and educators while increasing their programmatic impact through cross-community collaborations and an unaffiliated, non-agendaed, un-baggaged organizational identity. In times that are increasingly fraught by the plague of loneliness, lack of connection, limited time, why aren’t we maximizing the purposefulness of our community and its value to its women? Women need community – let’s give it to them. SVIVAH is in the business of creating an improved community experience by connecting women -- to each other, to those that exist to serve them, to the conversations that they want to have. By creating a nourished, empowered, celebratory communal experience for women, we elevate the community as a whole. *As an inclusive entity, SVIVAH defines "woman" as anyone wishing to join a circle of other women.
