About This Cause
Indes Ferox Gladio is a nonprofit dedicated to providing a venue for the continuing education and study of historic European Martial Arts (HEMA). Located in Portland, Oregon, we provide fundamental training in exercise and body mechanics, particularly as they relate to swordplay and HEMA, but also extending into general well-being and body maintenance. As part of this mission, we host formal classes several days a week, led by a variety of volunteer instructors and coaches. We also host amateur tournaments and gatherings, organize informal study groups, and send volunteers and instructors to events outside of our local community. We are also involved with our local community. We provide lectures and demonstrations at social and cultural gatherings; sharing our historical knowledge while spreading awareness of the sport.
