To help children and families achieve social and emotional well-being by providing quality, trauma-focused, child and family mental health care in the Charlotte-Mecklenburg area.
About This Cause
Since 2019, The FACTS Initiative has been at the forefront of providing high-quality, trauma-informed mental health care to children and families in Charlotte, with a strong focus on reaching and uplifting marginalized populations, particularly minority groups facing systemic inequities. Our mission is to address the unique barriers to mental wellness that these communities face, offering culturally responsive, evidence-based services that make mental health care accessible to those who need it the most. At the heart of The FACTS Initiative is our commitment to breaking down the stigma surrounding mental health in underserved populations. We understand that historical trauma, economic disparity, and lack of access to quality care often prevent individuals in these communities from seeking the support they need. Our organization’s goal is to reduce these barriers by integrating mental health services with community partnerships, making care not only accessible but also relevant to the cultural and social realities of the families they serve. Current partners include homeless shelters, advocacy centers for children who have been abused and support centers for survivors of human trafficking. The FACTS’ services include individual and family counseling, community-based support programs, and preventative mental health education - all designed to meet the unique needs of each child, family, and community. All of our mental health services are evidence-based, including Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) Therapy, Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT), Internal Family Systems (IFS) therapy, and Triple P Positive Parenting support.
