Mission Statement
MISSION: We are working to end generational poverty by developing communities of care– one woman at a time. VISION: Saffron Trust Women’s Foundation is a care network. We work to unify the many non-profit organizations in the Greater Austin area around the central goal of ending generational poverty that women of color had to bear the brunt of. The notion of community is not accessible to all in Austin; women and children walk past their paradises on their way to work and school everyday. Every Austenite deserves to live in basic luxury so we take care of all necessities that any woman would need to survive, because when you first help a woman, you help an entire generation.
About This Cause
HOW TO TALK ABOUT STWF: We are a network of care that seeks to provide assurance, first and foremost, to women by meeting their immediate needs. Our diverse partnerships permit us to provide food assistance, emergency shelter, emergency cash, therapy and life coaching as necessary. We, then, connect women to our long-term care infrastructure. We have community navigators that establish a plan of action in order to help women get back on their feet. This plan of action includes other partnered non-profit organizations who are equipped to provide long term assistance in specific life areas. VALUES: Sisterhood - As an organization with all female leadership with an emphasis on helping women, we work to remove any hierarchies that may exist when seeking help. We are not your providers, we are not your saving grace. We are your sisters who want nothing more than to see you thrive. Radical Self-Care - In honor of the black foremothers of our brand of feminism--Audre Lorde, Angela Davis and bell hooks--we profess their philosophy of radical self-care. Life as a woman of color is hard, but in the face of all that’s going wrong, lean on us to take off some of the burden and take care of yourself anyway. It’s the radical thing to do! Mutual aid - Mutual aid is one of the oldest human traditions. For millennia, human societies have exchanged resources among themselves for the betterment of themselves and their families. We believe in a world that maintains the most base of human characteristics. So we work to serve the best interests of everyone around us--because when everyone’s on board, we, ourselves, are cared for too. Self-love - Loving yourself is tough when the world tries to make certain that you are the beginning and end of all your problems. We know that’s not true. We know every woman is a complex being worthy of being loved, and through counseling services we’ll be sure to convince you of it too. Integrity
