Mission Statement

As women, we are creating the Living Her Legacy Project to inspire women and girls to discover themselves in the many talents, contributions, and achievements of women, both past and present, in our Fort Collins community. ‘Inspiring Girls and Women to Create Their Own Legacies’ ‘Recognizing Women. Inspiring Girls’ We are the first outdoor public art/education exhibit in Fort Collins and in Colorado as we cannot find and public women's art exhibit in Colorado.

About This Cause

Living Her Legacy has been approved to create the first Historic, public art/education exhibit in Fort Collins recognizing women's accomplishments to inspire girls futures. The initial art exhibit can be viewed on the Northside of CooperSmith's Brewery Poolside Pub. •To recognize notable women with ties to Fort Collins who have contributed to the fabric of our community •To recognize 48 women total, 12 initially and to rotate in next 36 over three-years’ time (we began our art exhibit with the first four women recognized as our Legacy Honorees on APR 18, 2021 and installations will occur approximately every six months with the next one coming the end of SEPT, 2021) •The process included over 100 community members providing nominations and many participated in our 7 selection events over 4 1/2 years of time. •Local Artists are Rachael Davis, MFA CSU, Art Project Director/Portrait Artist, and Trish Murtha: Role Model/Art Workshop Facilitator/Portrait Artist •Pictures will be created as a multi-color reduction woodcut technique print that are digitally printed onto a graffiti protected laminate panel. These panels will be rotated and used for traveling classroom and museum exhibits. •One far East window will explain the Living Her Legacy: Women of Fort Collins Project and begin list of sponsors. Our Criteria: 1. Visionaries for Change by following their heart's passion. 2. Role Model for girls and women. 3. Made a Difference demonstrating her commitment, courage and resilience. *Education component: Intergenerational/5th grade Role/Model Mentor art workshops, Girl Leaders program for girls 16-19 years including teen mom's. (Success for Teens & Entrepreneurship curriculum/civic engagement projects/job internships/college scholarship), community forums, and PSD curriculum in 2nd grade Fort Collins history & 4th grade CO history, Middle/High School Social Studies, Art classes, including curriculum in CSU Women’s Studies course. Our Girl Leaders program began FEB 2021 as a late start due to Covid and our Role Model Art workshop postponed last year due to Covid is planned for Fall 2021. We are looking for volunteers to participate as speakers in both Girl Leaders and Role Model Art Workshop, art workshop female participants, and host a Girl Leader for a job internship.
