EPA PENINSULA RUGBY FOOTBALL CLUB

Palo Alto, California, 94303 United States

Mission Statement

EPA Razorhawks is a comprehensive K–12 rugby program proudly representing East Palo Alto and nearby communities. The club is dedicated to bringing the excitement, fun, and teamwork of rugby to kids aged 5–18 in a safe, friendly, and nurturing environment.

About This Cause

Rugby is a sport with deep cultural roots in diaspora communities in East Palo Alto and neighboring communities: not just Polynesian and Oceanic communities but also historic Irish, Scottish, and Welsh cultures. We have passionate and motivated kids and parents - and our club provides them with the resources they need: free coaching, kit, training gear, field space, practice and game time - all the things for which parents in more prosperous communities regularly spend thousands of dollars per child per year plus investment of caregiver time. Our club steps in and provides the support - we work with boys and girls whose families have no spare financial or caregiving capacity and who - if we did not provide - would simply not be able to participate at all. We run practices 2-3 times every week and enter northern Californian competitions where we play competitive matches and provide travel and food. We have no cutoffs for ability or experience: every child who wants to play can and does play. Our coaches have international and national experience and globally recognised qualifications - they are also all volunteers.
