Unified Community Investors’ mission is to partner and organize with community stakeholders to revitalize the Urban Core of Jacksonville FL via home ownership and community pride.
About This Cause
Unified Community Investors approaches Community Revitalization through various portals. Youth Action Series - A year long commitment to one community where youth from various Youth Counsels come together to complete monthly (1st Saturday of every month) community cleanups and beautification projects. The beautification projects include pressure washing, prepping and painting the homes of homeowners within the community, completing yard work and landscaping for community residents, participating in community-based educational forums, conducting community based surveys, working with political leaders to form policy to address concerns noted within the community and highlighting Local Legends via mural displays. Youth are awarded a $25 gift card for participation in the beautification project. This is a recurring initiative with a new community revitalized each year. Heir Properties - An ongoing program where residents residing in targeted neighborhoods for gentrification are provided with free legal assistance to: untangle heirs property and ensure a clear title, create a will, medical directive and/or minor child legal guardianship order and have it filed appropriately, and assistance with paying off tax liens on one's homestead. MyVillage Project - An academic school year initiative designed to highlight and celebrate educational excellence in students attending schools in the Urban Core of Jacksonville FL. The students are awarded in school with a special visitation that includes gifts, hugs and verbal accolades. Parents are also awarded with $100 gift cards for ensuring their child has perfect attendance throughout the quarter. This is also a recurring initiative that begins again at the start of a new academic school year. Relax N Unwind Community Mental Wellness Picnic - An annual family friendly event that brings awareness of and resources to individuals surviving the loss of a loved one to homicide or suicide. Too often those in mourning do not seek out the services they need to cope in a healthy manner with the harsh and immediate reality of the traumatic experience that has occurred. Therefore we bring the resources to them. Mental health counselors, therapists, nonprofit organizations (ex. Project Cold Case, United Way) and governmental agencies (ex. Victim Services) all unite to provide the survivors with resources in a way that is full of love, laughs and good times (Kickball, yoga, bounce houses, hula hoop contest, cards, dominos, food, music, and etc.
