About This Cause
The Foundation’s musicians - the Grammy nominated Imani Winds - perform a wide range of wind quintet chamber music by diverse composers of the past and present, with passion, artistry and distinction, demonstrating that music is a vibrant, expanding art form that can entertain, educate and inspire audiences of all ages. Through the Legacy Commissioning Project, the Imani Winds Foundation also researches and commissions under-represented composers from marginalized communities to write exciting new works for the wind quintet speaking to the times in which we live through personal storytelling. Recording projects and special concerts are supported by the Foundation as well. A hallmark of the Foundation is the Imani Winds Chamber Music Festival, which educates aspiring professional musicians and composers through an annual summer institute. The Festival also has a concert series featuring the participants, special guest artists and acclaimed chamber ensembles from around the country.
