Mission Statement
Our mission is to reach women where they are, provide safe places for healing, share the love of Christ and help them find hope, empowerment, and freedom.
About This Cause
Light of Life serves women who have experienced sexual exploitation, substance misuse, homelessness, interpersonal violence and other traumas. Our internal continuum of care model includes intentional access points where we care for women who are living outside, residing in unstable environments, attending our walk-in support center, living in our transitional housing program or at our emergency shelter We understand that in order to stabilize and strengthen in independence and resilience, it is important that the physical, mental, emotional and spiritual health of each woman be supported, and it takes a community of committed partners to do that. We work closely with the Mental Health Center of Greater Manchester, Better Life Partners, Families in Transition, Southern NH Services, CMC’s Healthcare for the Homeless, and the Granite YMCA. Programs: The Light House – a comprehensive, 9 to12 month residential program designed to provide women impacted by sexual abuse and trauma with a safe, supportive environment in which to heal and recover. Light House participants build confidence and self-sufficiency through holistic, Christ-centered support, education, and skill building, as well as strong community connections with medical and mental health services. Beacon on Brook Street/emergency shelter - a safe, low-barrier shelter for women (and their children) who are unhoused. Meals are provided, laundry facilities are available and each woman is provided with caring, compassionate support and case management. Beacon on Brook Street/support center – a welcoming, comfortable space for women to have a time of respite, refreshment and connection. At the drop-in center, our goal is to build relationships and trust. Guests can engage in various creative activities, enjoy coffee and a snack, access personal care and other needed items, participate in support and mentoring programs and receive assistance in connecting to available area services and resources. Street Outreach - Seeking to connect and engage with vulnerable women, the outreach program is designed to provide opportunities for friendly interaction, to offer prayer, and to meet a practical need. Strategically located in specific areas where women are at-risk of exploitation and may be struggling with life controlling issues, our teams walk the neighborhoods and encampments. Snacks and bottled water are offered as well as gift bags filled with personal care products and various seasonal items. Each bag includes a card with an encouraging note and information about our programs. Education and Engagement – professional training is facilitated through tailored presentations for service providers, government agencies and community stakeholders with a focus on sexual abuse, trauma and exploitation, including human trafficking. In addition, a variety of events provide opportunities to raise awareness, educate, and highlight prevention for community and civic groups, youth organizations and places of worship.
