Mission Statement
To Be Well Fed is dedicated to fighting childhood hunger in Washington D.C. We partner with public schools to provide weekly groceries for at-risk children and their families. Our mission is to help every child in Washington D.C. arrive at school (in-person or virtual), well-nourished and ready to learn.
About This Cause
Three out of four children in Washington D.C. public schools are economically disadvantaged. Many of these students rely on school meals for sustenance during the week, lack access to healthy foods during weekends, and live in food insecure households in ‘food deserts.’ On Fridays, To Be Well Fed delivers groceries to our 3 partner schools located in ward 8. We provide a week’s worth of food for at-risk children and their families.
