Mission Statement

The mission of Oshun Family Center is to provide racially concordant mental and physical healthcare to members of the Black community that are struggling to cope with life transitions. Especially those impacted by postpartum mood changes, birth, and racial trauma. It is our goal to center the experiences of Black people and create a welcoming space for healing and refuge.

About This Cause

The Oshun Family Center, located in Philadelphia Pennsylvania, is passionate about providing every member of our Black community access to affordable or free mental health services and maternal health services. Our patients suffer from racial trauma, traumatic birth, and postpartum depression. Our maternal wellness programs provide preventive health care to fight racist hospital policies putting thousands of Black women's lives at risk each year. Black women are 3-4x more likely to die from pregnancy or childbirth-related causes than white women. (CDC) Despite the needs, only one in three Black or African American adults who need mental health care receive it. (American Psychiatric Association) All of our services are offered equitably for everyone from different socioeconomic backgrounds . Our Services include: - Virtual psychotherapy - Maternal Health & Childbirth Education - Doula Support - Breastfeeding support - Mommy & me meetups - Referral services for BIPOC (Black, Indigenous, People of Color) healthcare workers from Dentists to Midwives When YOU SUPPORT Oshun Family Center, you are helping members the Black community access MENTAL HEALTH and MATERNAL HEALTH services.
