Mission Statement
Denver Children's Home restores hope and health to traumatized children and families through a comprehensive array of therapeutic, educational, and community-based services.
About This Cause
Our ultimate goal is to provide transformational healing, bringing overall improved mental and emotional health to our region’s most vulnerable youth and their families. Denver Children’s Home provides a comprehensive therapeutic and educational continuum of care for our region’s abused, neglected and traumatized children and their families with mental health issues. We offer prevention, intervention, and treatment programs grounded in trauma-informed care and the latest in brain-development research through our 24/7 on-site Residential Program; The Bansbach Academy, a fully accredited and integrated school; a Day Treatment Program – for youth that benefit from the supportive, therapeutic, and educational environment, but go home daily; Discovery Home and Inspire Home – two family-like, transitional, semi-independent group homes for adolescents; and our Community-Based, Intensive In-Home Therapy Program (with tele-health services for families experiencing challenges with transportation and in remote Colorado Counties). These vital services help provide a foundation for the success of our clients and their families. We strive to: ∙ Provide the most effective, but least restrictive treatment based on individual needs of each child; ∙ Progress children, even those with the most serious mental health disorders, through various levels of care and eventually return them home or to an alternative community-based setting; ∙ Offer a positive alternative to psychiatric hospitalization, combining intensive therapy, individualized academic support and advanced drug treatments for biologically based mental illnesses; ∙ Help children take ownership of their treatment; to understand their reactions and responses to life events, accept responsibility for their actions, control their behavior and develop coping mechanisms for difficulties beyond their control; and, ∙ Help families and caregivers gain access to the support and services they need to stabilize families. Our clients overwhelmingly come to us based on referrals from county social services, schools, community mental health providers, hospitals and juvenile justice organizations.
