Mission Statement
Mission: In response to Jesus Christ’s call to affirm the value and dignity of each human life, to build solidarity within the community, and to advocate for justice for the poor and vulnerable, Catholic Charities of Central Colorado humbly engages in the ministry of charity for those in both economic and spiritual poverty so that all – staff, volunteers, and clients – may fully achieve their God-given potential.
About This Cause
The organization was incorporated as a 501(c)(3) human service organization in 1968 and is a member agency of Catholic Charities USA. Catholic Charities provides social services throughout its 10-county area with most of the services targeting people living in Colorado Springs and El Paso County. We are accredited by the Council on Accreditation and have been a United Way member agency since 1982. Our initial agency services focused on families. We supported local women and families as a nonprofit child placement agency and through family counseling services. Due to the significant growth of the Marian House Soup Kitchen, Catholic Charities was asked to take over its operation in 1994. We quickly realized our clients’ needs went far beyond serving daily meals and we added two programs: Client Services and Community Outreach Services. These programs worked well with the individual adult population. However, there was a growing need for similar programming for struggling families with children. For this reason, Life Support Services was added to our agency programming in 1999. Catholic Charities took over Family Immigration Services in 2002, which now offers English as a Second Language classes and immigration and naturalization services. Today, Catholic Charities provides services through three departments: Life Connections, Marian House Poverty Reduction (Life Support Services, Client Services, Community Outreach Services, and the Soup Kitchen), and Family Immigration Services. Our name and programs have changed over the years to meet the ever-changing need in our community. However, Catholic Charities has always strived to serve the "least among us" with dignity and respect
