Mission Statement

The Aftersight mission is to provide news and information in audio format for the blind, low vision community of Colorado. Audio services empower individuals to be self-sufficient, connected to community, and continuously learning.

About This Cause

Aftersight (formerly AINC) was founded in 1990 by David Dawson, who is blind. More than 150 volunteers read and record news and information in audio in English and Spanish, including local Colorado newspapers from every region. Programming is broadcast 24 hours a day, 7 days a week on three region-specific digital channels donated by Rocky Mountain Public Broadcasting Service (Northern/Front Range, Southern, and Grant Junction/Western Slope). Recordings are shared on the live regional broadcasts, on the internet through our website (via computer, smart-phone or smart-speakers), using a toll-free telephone system, or via a digital receiver that does not require internet or television. Free services include listening equipment including digital receivers and smart speakers Amazon Echo), in-home setup and training, in-home and remote troubleshooting, equipment maintenance and studio technology upkeep. Aftersight also helps listeners obtain discount internet services in their area (where available). Aftersight offers FREE White Canes, virtual Low Vision Book Club, and a weekly virtual Low Vision Support Group. Aftersight has been bringing print to life for almost 35 years. We envision a future where the information divide is bridged for all people with visual or print impairments through improved and equitable access to critical information and resources—leading to enriched lives and increased community connection.
