Mission Statement
The mission of Nevada HAND (Housing And Neighborhood Development) is to improve the lives of our low-income neighbors by providing affordable apartment homes with on-site supportive services.
About This Cause
As a community, we need the people who need affordable housing. Although our low-income neighbors play an essential role in our local economy, many of them struggle with life’s toughest challenges. We believe that the pathways to stability for our most vulnerable require supportive affordable housing. Simply put, when someone doesn’t have a stable home that they can afford, other community services cannot be as effective at improving lives. Lower-income families need and benefit from access to on-site supportive services integrated into the affordable apartment communities where they live. This two-pronged approach is precisely what Nevada HAND provides. OurResident Services transforms properties into communities where families and seniors succeed and thrive. We bring essential connections and community resources directly to the apartment communities where our lower-income seniors and families live. We believe that by providing activities centered around four key pillars (education, health and wellness, economic stability, and community engagement) we can boost low-income Southern Nevadans' ability to stabilize and transform their lives. At Nevada HAND, we envision a community where opportunity is within reach for all, regardless of circumstance. Nevada HAND started because of a local real estate broker (and part-time poker dealer) who dreamed of doing great things for his desert community. In 1993, Mike Mullin combined his real estate expertise with an entrepreneurial spirit to establish Nevada HAND as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit dedicated to creating affordable apartments for seniors on fixed incomes and hard-working families. In the years since, Nevada HAND has grown into one of the most respected local developers, builders, and managers of well-conceived and well-crafted housing. Nevada HAND is the largest nonprofit affordable housing provider in the state with 4,800 apartment homes located in 35 properties throughout the greater Las Vegas Valley; this also includes the only two aff ordable Assisted Living facilities in the state.
