Mission Statement
The mission of Chicago Urban Pride (CUP) is to bring together African American and other Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Queer (LGBTQ/Same Gender Loving (SGL) People of Color in a social, non-threatening empowering setting to uplift, educate and present positive images that help to maintain a healthy, productive and visionary community. Monthly activities including open reception, parties, book signing, spoken word showcase, live music & entertainment, a panel discussion, town hall meeting, health & wellness forum, a benefit event, workshops, couple recognition, free & confidential HIV & STI testing, and Black LGBTQ Film & Cultural Fest. Chicago Urban Pride is open to all people regardless of race, sexual orientation, or gender identity. Chicago Urban Pride’s main outreach effort is focused on reaching the underserved SGL/LGBTQ Communities of Color in the Chicago area and welcoming to all. Chicago Urban Pride is a proud member of the Center for Black Equality (CBE) formally known as the International Federation of Black Organization (IFBP). The CBE is a coalition of Black Pride organizers formed to promote a multinational network of LGBTQ Prides and community-based organizations. The CBE was organized in 1999 and acquired its 501(c)(3) non-profit status in 2004.
About This Cause
Chicago Urban Pride (CUP) is to bring together African American and other Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Queer (LGBTQ/Same Gender Loving (SGL) People of Color in a social, non-threatening empowering setting to uplift,educate and present positive images that help to maintain a healthy,productive and visionary community.Chicago Urban Pride Fest is an event sponsored by UrbanprideInc. a 501(c)(3) U.S. based non-profit organization and Chicago's 2021 LGBT Hall of Fame. Our team has brought together members of the LGBTQ community,along with friends,allies and supporters in celebration of the unique spirit and culture of the LGBTQ community and providing our annual Free Family Friendly Pride Festival & Picnic on the South Side of Chicago on Gay Pride day. The Chicago Urban Pride Fest since its launch in 2016 has grown exponentially into a marquee event attracting thousands of attendees Locally and Nationally to Chicago's Bronzeville,Hyde Park and Jackson Park neighborhoods with live music,entertainment,drag performances,free food,games,free & confidential HIV,STI,Covid testing and more.
