Mission Statement
Sellwood Community House is a welcoming, inclusive place for people to learn, play, gather and connect. We offer dynamic and engaging programs, classes and events for all ages and abilities and we encourage a spirit of volunteerism and community involvement.
About This Cause
Sellwood Community House has been a nonprofit community center since August, 2019, after taking over operations from the City of Portland Bureau of Parks and Recreation. We honor the past century of learning and recreation in this space, and will carry SCH forward into this century with programming that is current, engaging, innovative and meets the needs of those in our community and beyond. Our cornerstone programs are our early childhood and afternoon youth programs. Through a generous scholarship program we are able to support families of all income levels in providing excellent care and exciting learning opportunities like our new "Be a Maker" program for middle school students. Additionally, we offer a range of enrichment classes for people of all ages; music, dance, fitness, theater and more. Our community partnerships and volunteer program are sustaining forces of SCH. We have a robust volunteer program and we nurture partnerships with our local business community by inviting their participation in our events and fundraisers.
