Mission Statement

United in Heart creates tools to coordinate, educate, and empower everyday people to solve climate change and end world hunger.

About This Cause

We educate and empower everyday people to become effective environmentalists. The United in Heart documentary and app empower people to 1) stop climate change and desertification (prevent refugeeism) through awareness and veganism, 2) plant food forests (address food scarcity), and make water conservation donations (address water scarcity) to help the most at-risk people – impoverished black, brown and tan people of the Global South and the East. It is for this reason we say good environmentalism helps people. THE ENVIRONMENTAL SOLUTION The IPCC 5th Assessment Report stated that 35% of the usable land on Earth is used to graze animals. Meat and dairy eating requires 10x more land than veganism and we feed nearly 50% of the grain on Earth to animals - food sufficient to feed all of the hungry people on Earth. If the world goes vegan, all of the grazing land is extra land. Reforest 41% of that land and you capture more carbon than we released into the atmosphere since 1750. Upon reforesting, wildlife will rebound and ecosystems will regenerate. In essence, veganism holds the key to returning to the safe zones within the Rockstrom planetary boundaries for climate change, biodiversity, and ecosystems. THE EDUCATION PROBLEM With that said, the environmental solution is largely unrecognized. People feel angry, afraid and helpless with respect to climate change and the approaching climate catastrophe. Climate activists are unable to create substantive change, and normally punt to governments which are not helpful. Veganism and tree-planting is the answer, but educating and mobilizing people and giving them traction is difficult. THE DISCONNECT The scientific consensus is that carbon capture technology, clean coal, natural gas, and even renewable energy, cannot sequester enough carbon to avert +2C warming, not to mention dent species extinction. Veganism could allay these existential threats. However, the vegan adoption rate is too slow; in fact, meat and dairy consumption is going up worldwide. THE DOCUMENTARY & APP The 30 minute United in Heart documentary provides a clear, concise and inspiring explanation of the practical solution to climate change and world hunger. The App coordinates and empowers everyday people to solve climate change and live harmoniously through: a) food, carbon and communication goal setting and action item follow-up, b) a food forest program, c) catalyzing rapid communication of the climate solution to friends and family by enabling invitations through email, text and social media (Facebook, Whatsapp, Instagram, etc.) d) tracking the number of 1. people in the user's downstream network, 2. the cumulative trees planted, and 3. the cumulative number of families uplifted by their downstream network (through the food forest program) e) a curated, well-organized guide on know-how relevant to veganism education, environmental awareness, and self empowerment. The United in Heart app serves as the everyday person’s action plan and canvas to re-make oneself and the world. The app provides a mechanism for users to see their positive actions exponentially amplify environmental awareness, veganism, & food forests. Their chosen goals itemize as action items, many of which can be attained by using the app (inviting friends, food forest donations which uplift families, watching videos). Every time a user is a positive influence, she earns points called Enviros. The Enviros Map gives users a map of their activism in multiple areas (veganism, planting food forests, inspiring friends, self-empowerment videos, etc.) In effect, it gives a user a dashboard for the social progress she is bringing about. United in Heart has entered an exclusive online donation relationship with Sadhana Forest, the most reputable veganic tree planting organization in the world. Their tree survival rates are best in class in severely degraded land, where food forests improve livelihoods the most. Food forest donations on the app address climate change and uplift families by establishing food security on their own land in Haiti, Kenya, and India within 5-7 years. Their track record in water conservation is equally impressive. Sadhana Forest India raised the water table 19 feet in its region and thereby kept nearby wells full even in the summer.
