About This Cause
Crave of Florida is an incubator for grassroots leaders who are eager to meet needs within their communities. We rely on donations and grants to support our core program which fills a void for under-resourced and minority entrepreneurs who lack the social capital and professional skills required to turn their vision for a nonprofit start-up into a reality. Now in our 8th year, Crave provides mentors, training, and networks so that social entrepreneurs can successfully launch, fund, and grow their nonprofits. Through one-on-one coaching and monthly workshops, our leaders learn to harness their passion for social change, set budgets, build a board of directors, understand best practices for long-term self-care, and much more. Crave understands that resilient leaders from disadvantaged neighborhoods are often drawn to social impact work due to their own loss, injustice, pain, and/or trauma. Their fire fuels the potential for positive grassroots change. They have key local relationships and an understanding of the culture required to have a positive impact, but they lack professional skills, resources, and a clear path toward success. Crave accelerates their potential and enables them to launch and operate a nonprofit successfully. Our training program is flexible, affordable, and uniquely designed to appeal to minorities and economically disadvantaged leaders whose vision to serve is hindered by a lack of social capital, training, or burnout. A tight cohort of up to 10 leaders complete Crave's multi-month curriculum as a team. The nature of the program builds a depth of fellowship and a sense of community that forms lifelong bonds and ongoing support. This culture of belonging has led to a flourishing Crave Alumni network and a life-long learning program. Because Crave serves those from marginalized communities, we eagerly seek donations to offset costs so we may offer our professional development programs at heavily discounted rates.
