Mission Statement
The Naturally Beautiful Project's mission is to offer free natural hair education and hairstyling to children with afro-textured hair. The Naturally Beautiful Project primarily serves Black and biracial children from adopted, fostered, and transracial homes in the Pacific Northwest.
About This Cause
The Naturally Beautiful Project provides services to help young girls and boys experience the confidence, value, and self-esteem of caring for their hair. We provide the next generation with an increased sense of pride and joy regarding the culture and beauty of their natural hair. The parent and child receive lessons on proper hair care methods for afro-textured hair, such as daily upkeep, detangling, shampoo and conditioning, and alternative styling techniques. Each family receives products, accessories (beads, hair jewelry), hair, and home hair care kits in addition to the design itself. The kits may contain practice mannequins and dolls, du-rags, bonnets, shampoo and conditioner, moisturizer, instructions, afro-positive books, and inspirational encouragement. Our vision is to give all children with afro-textured hair a sense of pride and dignity, allowing them to embrace their own hair and culture.
