Mission Statement

We tell in-depth stories about people and the planet.

About This Cause

Auricle Productions is a nonprofit environmental journalism organization. We produce Threshold, a Peabody Award-winning podcast that deeply examines and explores one pressing environmental issue each season. We take our listeners out into the world and introduce them to people who are directly affected by the topics we're investigating. We report the story where it’s happening through diverse, compelling, and underrepresented voices and perspectives. Our show is a home for rigorous, in-depth journalism and nuanced conversation about the natural world. In our four seasons to date, we’ve explored the contentious past, present, and future of bison in the American West, climate change in the polar north, one of the oldest, most contentious public lands battles facing the United States today—drilling in Alaska’s Arctic National Wildlife Refuge, and the time we have left before we hit a climate threshold: 1.5 degrees of global warming. In all our storytelling, we aim to humanize people on all sides of the stories we explore, illuminate shades of grey, and elevate voices that are often missing from the mainstream discourse about these pivotal environmental issues. We also illuminate the science—and the people behind it—that shapes our understanding of the world around us.
