Our mission is to use unfamiliar environments as our classrooms for students to connect to higher consciousness, identify their passions, and learn new ways to live within their purpose. LTL curates retreats for students to unlock answers to the question, who am I?
About This Cause
Since 2015, Learning to Live Movement has been helping inner-city high school students dream big and imagine a brighter and bolder future filled with adventure and opportunity by providing unique, powerful, and transformative travel experiences. We infuse our belief that "Travel is the School of Life" into every single aspect of programming for our Enrichment Retreats. Our Retreats consist of the following workshops: -Basic Life Skills -Financial Literacy -College and Career Readiness -Meditation -Yoga and Wellness -Etiquette -History Tours In between workshops, a different kind of education occurs - perhaps even the most valuable. Students interact with various cultures, exchange ideas, and share their visions for the future. As a result of our retreats, students will be able to: - Apply their knowledge to create a global-to-local travel footprint in their response to situations and events relevant to their lives -Demonstrate an awareness of cultural diversity -Gain new, healthy habits -Model personal growth and intercultural competency -Gain global awareness of career readiness and leadership skills -Develop an expansive view that emphasizes innovation, sustainability, and social responsibility Ultimately, Learning to Live Enrichment Retreats will help students broaden their horizons. We serve the population below. 100% marginalized youth 90% of youth live in single-parent homes 80% are educated in Title 1 Schools 95% are at-risk 100% live below the poverty line 90% have a parent or guardian who is unemployed or underemployed 85% have never traveled outside of Baltimore City 100% live in the poorest Baltimore city communities impacted by crime, trauma, and despair 95% are African-American 4% are Hispanic 1% are white or identify as another racial/ethnic background 100% are impacted by social determinants
