Mission Statement
Piney Run Sporting Club of Washington DC supports children and amateur athletes by creating opportunities for training, competition and education. By supporting children and amateur athletes in Washington DC who have received very limited opportunities to develop and compete in racquet sports, we create a strong pipeline to intercollegiate and professional sports.
About This Cause
Our key program is the "Junior Scholarship Series," a series of tournaments where the winner receives a $500 scholarship in the form of a certificate of deposit placed in a custodial account until they graduate from high school or turn 18 years old. The scholarship must be used for study at an educational institution that normally maintains a regular faculty and curriculum and normally has a regularly organized body of students in attendance at the place where the educational activities are carried on. The use of the scholarship is not limited to tuition, fees, and course-required books, supplies or equipment and may also be used for room, board, travel, research, and clerical help.
