Mission Statement
Your Move MKE Inc is a non-profit organization designed to help break the cycles of poverty, pain and trauma; replacing them with positive cycles of prosperity, strength and healing. We strive to improve the quality of life on the southside of Milwaukee by utilizing our passion for hip-hop and art to teach youth and young adults critical thinking and life skills.
About This Cause
Your Move MKE Inc. is a 501(c)3 founded by the coordinators of Hip Hop Chess Club of WI to continue to improve the quality of life on the southside of Milwaukee through hip-hop and arts. Your Move MKE Inc is dedicated to a diverse population but targets underrepresented youth and low-income families. Our goal is to break the cycle of poverty and generational gaps through higher level thinking and the elements of hip-hop to instill the only way to move forward is to make Your Move. Your Move MKE has a community center on 11th and W Historic Mitchell where we provide four key programs: Hip Hop Chess Club, Makin Moves Breakdancing, Restorative Justice Cyphers and Urban Trade Skills. We are contracted with Milwaukee County to provide free special programming for youth and families. In addition, we host community events, community clean ups and workshops.
