Mission Statement

Golden Rule ReEntry is a trauma-informed organization assisting the formerly incarcerated by engaging the community. We foster connection through kinship, networking, classes & services with a focus on personal & professional growth. Beyond reducing recidivism, GRR helps participants thrive by finding their purpose and place in the community. Through staff with lived experience, we offer a kind & relational experience over a transactional one. Our focus on personal & professional growth includes highly tailored case management, peer support, transitional housing, workforce development and career services. We offer foundational support like credit score & driving privilege restoration. Our culturally responsive Drop-In Center offers classes, clinics, events and a safe-haven lounge for this vulnerable population. By building strong relationships and fostering a culture of compassion, care & connection, individuals who have endured incarceration have the tools they need to transform their lives, find fulfillment & contribute positively to their communities.

About This Cause

Golden Rule ReEntry assists the formerly incarcerated by engaging the community. Golden Rule ReEntry was founded in Southern Oregon in 2020 and works with individuals who have been impacted by incarceration. Our purpose is to assist each individual to find fulfillment for themselves, whether it be overcoming the effects of trauma, finding a vocation, giving back to the community, having healthy friendships, exploring creative impulses or launching a business - whatever each Participant wants to do - Golden Rule ReEntry is there to help make it happen in a safe and supportive environment. This not only helps the Participant personally, but lifts society as a whole - including future generations. We have 6 areas of Programmatic support: Trauma Awareness & Support (ie - trauma informed practices, trauma support groups, guided meditations, tools to self regulate & regain head/heart coherence) Life Skills Support (ie - time management, money management, nutrition & cooking, social skills, life coaching, etc) Career/Entrepreneurial Support (ie - work programs, employment support, additional income streams (side hustles), micro businesses, crowdfunding, etc...) Self Assessment Tools, Wellbeing & Priority Calibrations (ie - weekly check ins, intake assessments, Strengths Based assessments, ACEs, periodic self assessments) Kinship: One on One & Group Support (ie - Navigators offering emotional, social & transportation support as well as help getting things accomplished. Emotional/social issue support circles also offered) Resource Navigation Support (ie - to ACCESS, WorkSource, CCCC, Rogue Retreat, Options, ARC, HelpNOW!, DHS, Recovery Cafe, Family Nurturing Center, etc..) * * * * * Golden Rule Residential (dba) operates transitional housing for the formerly incarcerated at three locations within the Medford, Oregon area. Each home is constituted around clearly defined standards of sobriety and mutual respect/cooperation that are monitored and enforced by on-site house managers. In one of these homes we host the Prison-to-Prosperity Pipeline program that educates and supports a cohort of manufacturing students to further their educational opportunities before fully re-entering the workforce. GRR’s House Managers are all Peer Support Specialists with lived experience. Our weekly house manager meeting is also a place where those with lived experience are encouraged to set forth policies and practice based on their understanding of the culture and mindset of both thriving participants as well as those struggling to re-engage with the norms of society. * * * * * The Golden Rule Effect Through Community Engagement: GRR Navigators & the Golden Rule Network: Golden Rule ReEntry's primary model is to Engage the Community by partnering with individuals and organizations that have time, skills or services that they can offer. Volunteer Community Navigators offer one-on-one emotional, social & general support. GRR Navigators are connected in an online community and bonded through group trainings in order to leverage the skills, resources and connections of the entire group. Participants who reach a level of stability in the community will be encouraged to give back by becoming Navigators themselves. Community Collaborators are individuals or organizations that work closely with Golden Rule ReEntry to tailor their offerings to meet the needs of our participants. The Golden Rule Network reaches even further into the Community by allowing individuals and businesses to offer support on an ad hoc basis by sharing participant needs through the Golden Rule Network channels - social media, emails and dedicated forums.
