Mission Statement
United Way of Larimer County leads philanthropy in our community, ensuring that gifts of time, talent, and treasure address today’s greatest needs – and reduce tomorrow’s.
About This Cause
For over 65 years, United Way of Larimer County has been dedicated to ensuring local individuals and families can access the resources they need to thrive. In the 2023-2024 fiscal year, we achieved a remarkable milestone by investing $10 million into our community. This significant achievement underscores our unwavering commitment to addressing today’s urgent needs while reducing the needs of tomorrow. You know your dollars are in good hands because we're proud to meet the highest standards of nonprofits and philanthropy, with over 90% of every donation directly funding impactful programs and the other 10% going to support operations (the staff and systems that make our work possible). When you give to United Way, you can rest easy knowing your dollars go directly to where they're needed most. As a grantmaker, we’re trusted by local agencies to shoulder the heavy lifting of fundraising while they focus on delivering direct services. But here's what sets us apart: we're not just funders, we're doers. We run our own programs and community hubs alongside grantmaking, ensuring that your contribution is part of a comprehensive strategy to tackle our community's toughest challenges. Here’s a glimpse of the impactful work we’re doing: Child Care Support: Last year, we invested $2.5 million in advancing affordable, high-quality child care. This investment has benefited hundreds of children’s development and enabled their parents to join the workforce and achieve financial stability. From funding capital projects to increase available spots and reduce waitlists to offering scholarships ensuring low- and middle-income families pay no more than 15% of their income on child care costs, we’re leading the way in ensuring every child has the care they need to thrive and every parent has the support needed to enter the workforce. Early Literacy Initiatives: Through book access programs like Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library, we ensure every child in Larimer County begins developing literacy skills early and enters Kindergarten ready to succeed academically. We also fund tutoring programs like Colorado Reading Corps, which provide targeted support for children who are struggling to help them catch up to their peers. Community Hubs: We’re also on the ground in the community at two community hubs: the Loveland Youth Campus and Community Impact Center in Fort Collins, where we bring together nonprofits and essential services under one roof, making support more accessible for those who need it most. Join us in making a lasting impact where it’s needed most. With United Way of Larimer County, you’re not just donating—you’re investing in proven programs, local nonprofits, and the future of our community. Together, we can create transformative change and build a stronger, more resilient Larimer County.
