Mission Statement

DDRC provides services for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities of all ages birth to old age in Jefferson, Gilpin, Clear Creek and Summit counties in Colorado. Developmental disabilities include Down syndrome, autism, cerebral palsy, cognitive disabilities, and more than 300 other life-long, significant disabilities as well as brain injuries that happen before a person turns 22 and cause significant limitations of cognitive abilities or activities of daily living. Supports include early intervention, family support, adult day, employment, residential, recreational and transportation programs, as well as case management for more than 3,400 people.

About This Cause

DDRC serves people with intellectual and developmental disabilities who live in Jefferson, Clear Creek, Gilpin and Summit Counties. Services and resources are designed to provide positive choices, individualized and person centered to enhance quality of life and help people help themselves. DDRC provides a full scope of services, including: Resource Coordination helps people with developmental disabilities get the information they need to understand their options and make informed choices. From an initial application and eligibility/intake evaluation, individuals and their families are supported in accessing community resources, making transitions, selecting appropriate services or supports, and evaluating results. Children and Family Services includes Early Intervention, Family Support, and Children’s Medicaid Waivers. Services are designed to enhance the capacity of families to support their children’s well-being, development, learning and full participation in their communities. Adult Vocational Services (AVS) are DDRC services which provide activities to connect individuals with their communities. This is done through activities such as volunteering, recreation, prevocational skills training, job readiness classes, supervised work crews and job coaching. Quality Living Options (QLO) provides services to individuals in a variety of residential settings. Individuals may live in fully staffed group homes, apartments with staff available when needed or independently in the community with only intermittent support. They may join a family in a host home or purchase their own home. A Better Choice/Supported Living Services designs individualized service plans which are customized to meet specific needs when adults live on their own or in their family home. People choose from a menu of service options and select providers who work at the discretion of the person with disabilities and the family. Recreation Services coordinate a variety of leisure time activities. Through sports, community outings, the arts, date nights, Special Olympics and lots of other opportunities people maintain their physical health and improve social skills. Behavioral Health Services include behavioral and/or psychiatric assessment and interventions, medical and medication review, care coordination, and training Volunteer Services provides opportunities for individuals and groups in the community to volunteer with the people DDRC serves. The Art & Soul Program pairs professional artists and individuals with disabilities who want to develop their artistic talents. Development Office coordinates donations, memorials, guardianship, trust and aging issues.
