About This Cause

AFRICACTIVE IS A GIVING CULTURE We are a certified 501(c)3 non-profit. HISTORY In 2008, Thrinicko Beaboa founded africActive while a student in Cape Town, South Africa. A native of Lubumbashi, Democratic Republic of Congo, Thrinicko saw a need to serve the community in South Africa and in Congo. Thrinicko was raised in Paris France, he is now a resident in the US with the mission of mobilizing resources to fight hunger and make Los Angeles County a better place. Thrinicko established the Los Angeles County branch of africActive in 2020 to address the growing need for food insecurity in underserved communities during quarantine due to the pandemic. From the related economic fallout and the global pandemic up until today, hunger affects all groups of people regardless of education level, employment status, or ethnicity. Due to the soaring costs of essential goods and both housing and transportation in Los Angeles County, many people who work– even families with two incomes – often can’t make ends meet or put enough good food on the table. Our vision is to spread the giving culture, and the sharing mentality around so that no one should go hungry in the community.
