About This Cause
Movikarma is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization in Los Angeles that empowers underrepresented talent and fosters inclusion, equity, representation, and social impact in Hollywood. Supported by Warner Bros. Discovery, Lionsgate and other industry leaders, Movikarma has built high-level, inclusion-focused relationships across the industry, including with Amazon Studios, Netflix, HBO Max, Disney Studios, Snapchat, Paramount, Apple TV+, The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, Ryan Murphy Productions, Legendary Entertainment, MRC Entertainment, Shondaland, and dozens of other leading companies, organizations, and award-winning underrepresented talent. Movikarma has also hosted groundbreaking events with thought leaders, including with the U.S. Assistant Secretary of Health Admiral Rachel Levine, M.D. of the Biden Administration and with several leading executives at the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences. Through its many initiatives led by its President, Jared Milrad, Movikarma provides holistic career opportunities for underrepresented talent, serves as an inclusive teaching and training partner for industry leaders, spotlights underrepresented talent globally, and advocates for systemic change to make Hollywood more inclusive, equitable, and representative than ever before. Movikarma's initiatives include The Inclusive Pathways Program, a first-of-its-kind holistic pipeline, mentorship, training, and career growth program that connects underrepresented talent with hands-on industry opportunities, including our recently launched TV Development Fellowship Program in partnership with HBO Max; our Salon Series that provides space for underrepresented talent to connect with industry leaders and explore new opportunities; an Inclusive Storytelling Initiative that partners with underrepresented filmmakers and industry leaders to spotlight urgent issues such as voting rights, healthcare reform, and racial equity; a social impact film festival, A Show For A Change Film Festival, which has worked with 600+ filmmakers from 51+ countries to inspire action around veterans' issues, the free press, environmental justice, human rights, and more; and Rewriting Hollywood, an award-winning global podcast that explores inclusion and social impact with underrepresented artists, such as Oscar-nominated actor Aunjanue Ellis (KING RICHARD), Oscar-winning actor Troy Kotsur (CODA), Oscar-winning screenwriter Tarell McCraney (MOONLIGHT), and Tony Award-winning actor Joaquina Kalukango (ONE NIGHT IN MIAMI).
