Mission Statement
Repair preservation group works to ensure that consumers have the economic freedom to choose who repairs their devices, and that repair shops have the freedom to conduct business in a world where tech oligopolies are throwing more obstacles in the way of repair. We do this by supporting those who provide education to technicians, increasing the general public’s awareness of how anti-repair mentalities have permeated our once proud-to-repair culture, and advocating for policies that enhance the economic freedom of device owners & repair shops. We are run by people who live and breathe the repair industry, that seek to never become disconnected from the needs of those in the industry - whether you are a 1-person business or a 1000+ employee corporation, we strive to provide materials, services, and advocacy that matters to you. Repair Preservation Group seeks to make component level electronics repair of popular, complex, modern devices more accessible to everyone by publishing repair information that is usually hidden in the minds of advanced repair technicians. We also work to raise awareness on how the ability to repair your property is being eroded; from consumer electronics, wheelchairs, to farm equipment, as a result of ongoing monopolistic & anti-consumer practices.
About This Cause
Repair Preservation Group was started by Louis Rossmann, an independent repair technician who realized how many obstacles were standing in the way of device repairability over his decade in business. The organization seeks to make people aware of the issue of right to repair, and to advocate for end users & repair shops alike in ensuring the craft & art of repair is preserved for generations to come.
