Mission Statement
The mission of Goodwill of Central and Northern Arizona (GCNA) is: Empowering Individuals, Strengthening Families, and Building Stronger Communities. Our vision is to "End Poverty Through the Power of Work.
About This Cause
In 70+ years, GCNA has grown to more than 90 stores and 19 Career Centers in Central and Northern Arizona with over 3,000 employees. (includes all of Metro Phoenix, Prescott, Yuma, Cottonwood, Sedona, Kingman, Show Low and Flagstaff). All Career Centers are located in easily accessible areas that are considered underserved and disadvantaged. GCNA recycles and resells valuable, but unwanted, materials and uses the revenue for its retail operations and career center services that provide local job seekers with the no cost interview/resume development, job skills training and placement services they need. GCNA's model offers internal positions to struggling job-seekers so they can build a work history and secure career track employment, either with GCNA or with one of the hundreds of employers who rely on GCNA to meet their human resource needs. Each year, we participate in about 700 career fairs or job expos with hundreds of local employer partners. In 2018 we offered career services to more than 63,000 unemployed and underemployed persons (ages 16 and up). Additionally, Goodwill’s efforts divert nearly 200 million pounds of materials from going directly to Arizona landfills every year. The vision that all people will have the opportunity to achieve their greatest potential is one that drives us and guides everything we do as an organization, serving as a powerful reminder of the future we are working toward.
