Mission Statement
The EGD Collective is a grassroots movement across North America with a mission to helpeverystudent finish their education and find their place within gaming.We are a one-of-a-kind leadership development experience that not only prevents students from dropping out or getting academically dismissed, but prepares and propels students into STEM and art careers within the games industry.
About This Cause
Founded in 2016, the EGD Collective is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit membership organization dedicated to removing barriers in games communities and making the industry a more accessible academic and career opportunity for all. EGD supports casual gaming communities, as well as aspiring and early-career games professionals by providing free events, educational programming, and support systems to help students navigate through academic, financial, and emotional crises - ensuring students can complete their education and are prepared to establish healthy workplace boundaries in whichever field they choose. Our model was created using root-cause analysis and with aims of systemic change. We draw upon and incorporate different aspects of mutual aid, restorative justice, grassroots organizing, and intersectional theory in order to create a revolutionary approach to addressing the issues facing our industry and young people.
