Mission, Vision, and Values Mission-To create programs to raise awareness, help to educate, and to decrease to stigma for suicide prevention with mentorship using nature and water therapy. Vision-To create base camps and programs for all racial, ethnic and socioeconomic groups, and as a result, payers have an opportunity to change the approach to suicide prevention through community partnerships. To establish a setting to feel safe for participation in programs with trained mental health providers to help them relieve anxiety and to establish trust and confidence using water therapy and nature. The objectives are-To establish a safety care plan with participants with their trusted family member or caregiver with mentorship and to teach them how to recognize the signs & symptoms of failing health by handing out “Talk Saves Lives” brochure put out by The American Foundation for Suicide Prevention and other helpful and supportive literature. Our goal is to provide you with a referral source bridging the gap of area agencies servicing mental health needs. Our keys to success are-1.) Building a strong, active Board of Directors, 2.) ensuring the offered services satisfy needs of individual, family or group, and 3.) designing and implementing strict financial controls and accountability. Values-To treat each other with kindness and respect, regardless of the reason we are placed in our current situation. Programs, Services, and Impact Paddle for Suicide Prevention-Using paddle boards, kayaks or other water floats offered to individual, family or groups that address mental health issues and provides healing using water therapy with mentorship. It is a way to connect with others for support by collaborating with local mental health first aiders following ALGEE guidelines from the National Council for Behavioral Health. Being on the water is intended to relieve anxiety and to establish calmness. It requires intense focus which floods the brain with neurochemicals like serotonin and anandamide which increases motivation and happiness which is the same substance found in an antidepressant. Being in water helps the body to alter the balance of epinephrine and dopamine to the levels of a meditative state. You will focus on all aspects of paddling from water safety, navigating, stroke technique, board control, balance & coordination, equipment and education. As you balance all these physical elements to stay afloat, you will most likely be more in touch with focusing your body and how to move with water in a healthy and natural way to relieve stress because you are effectively avoiding negative thoughts running circles in your mind. Accomplishing the challenge of paddle boarding or kayaking you will feel self-satisfaction and build confidence. Spending intentional time with people who are important in your life is a great way to relieve stress, not only does the reminder that you have a support group network doing wonderful things for your peace of mind, simply being surrounded by positive vibes provides a sense of ease. All gear is provided. First visit is consultation, second visit is activity 1 and half hour. Gizmo’s Pawesome Guide to Mental Health: Takes an up-stream approach to support mental health & wellness to youth by introducing the concept of mental health and sharing how to care for their own mental health daily. Music Therapy is added to this program for self-care. This is a 45-minute class for ages 3-12 that uses stories, puppets and music. A trusted caregiver or parent is encouraged. For daycares, preschool, churches or recreation centers. Walk & Talk- 1 hour stroll at area beaches and nature parks. We help to educate, decrease the stigma and raise awareness for Suicide Prevention. As a suicide survivor I had to navigate the system alone. You are not alone and your life matters. We are a support group for mental health with referrals to various agencies and you will learn how to recognize signs & symptoms of failing mental health. On average, approximately 130 Americans die by suicide each day. Since the outbreak of Covid-19, there has been concern stressors induced by the pandemic, such as social isolation, economic challenges, depression and limited access to healthcare services, would increase suicidal behaviors. While the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention found that overall suicide rates decreased during Covid-19, rates increased among young people and people of color, the latter of which disproportionately affected by the pandemic. All of that said, suicide remains a concern among all racial, ethnic and socioeconomic groups, and as a result, payers have an opportunity to change the approach to suicide prevention through provider and community partnerships. Nearly 50% of individuals who die by suicide saw a primary -care provider in the last 30 days, and more than 80% saw a behavioral health specialist or primary-care provider a year before their death. Yet in a survey conducted by the Association of Clinicians for the Underserved (ACU), “one in five providers had never received training on how to recognize warning signs that patients may be at elevated risk for suicide, and 32% lack confidence in their ability to provide treatment to patients with suicidal thoughts or behaviors. Evidence-informed training can help Doctors and Social Workers identify signs of distress and engage members in needed care. Social isolation, financial stress, unemployment, failing health, neglect and substance abuse can be suicide risk factors. Addressing these complex issues will improve the effectiveness of outreach and intervention. Through improved access to high quality individualized suicide-prevention care, partnering with social service agencies and organizations, and using advance technology to better identify those at risk, together we can improve the quality of life for those in greatest distress. Free Narcan distributor with education. Marketing Plan Our main effort of increasing visibility within the community is through contact with the people we serve, including reaching out to other nonprofits and agencies working with mental health such as schools, churches, United Way, NAMI (National Alliance on Mental Illness, AFSP (American Foundation for Suicide Prevention), 211 Tampa Bay Cares and area hospitals to bridge the gap of communication with resources to serve the uninsured the care they need using nature therapy with educated professionals with lived experience. By developing a relationship with these organizations, these are the agencies who are in the best position to make referrals to people who are truly in need of our services. We will create a website that is searchable and allows potential users, social service agencies, and donors to obtain access about our organization and the services we offer. We will develop a marketing campaign to develop visibility within the community for both client recruitment as well as fundraising. Other avenues are sponsorships of one day events or seminars, participation in podcasts, or other public events that are designed to give Remember Me NP presence. We are also on Facebook, Instagram, Linkedln, and Twitter. Operational Plan We do not diagnose or treat participants. We create programs for mental health using water and nature therapy. Our goal is to establish for you and your trusted friend a safety action care plan for your mental health before a crisis may occur. Each participant will learn how to recognize the signs & symptoms of failing mental health by reviewing “Talk Saves Lives” handout but out by the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention. Remember Me NP will work hard for our clients to bridge the gap of communication with referrals and resources to serve the uninsured to receive the care they need for mental health by creating programs using nature and water therapy to increase their confidence, self-esteem, promote socialization, and being around positive and like-minded people for care.
