About This Cause
What is TalentDreams? Think TEDx© meets Big Brothers Big Sisters of America© (BBBSA) with a little YMCA mixed in. TEDx is an incredible platform to broadcast a message to a large audience (1 to Many), but is limited in terms of 2-way interaction. BBBSA is an amazing program designed to support a single beneficiary (1 to 1), but is a lengthy process for both “Bigs” and “Littles” to join-- and it’s also a significant 12+ month commitment that is deeply involved meeting almost weekly. The YMCA is all about creating community and helping members discover their sense of purpose. We share the beliefs that community and purpose play a key role in a young person's development, and that having access to mentors can make a huge difference in the lives and development of our youth. How does it work? TalentDreams is a lightweight program, that is ideally positioned to serve the very large opportunity between 1:many and 1:1. Our goal is to make mentorship and leadership resources easily accessible to anyone from 15-22 years of age. Long-term, we want to help educate, challenge, inspire, and support the youth of our community. LiveSyncs TalentDreams conducts seminars for local youth to learn about potential career paths and get inspired about what they can achieve. Mentors We also have a team of amazing mentors who are available to speak 1:1 with members who would like to hear about their experience and get mentor feedback. This is done over Zoom and recorded, although the recordings are of course confidential and are not shared. Program Goals Over time, TalentDreams will build out a diverse spectrum of topics with the seminars, and also expand the mentoring opportunities beyond just a single virtual meeting. TalentDreams is committed to serving youth and young adults of all ages. Particularly those tackling the challenges, trials, and tribulations adolescence can often bring. Through our mission, we strive to empower the youth of our community to tap into their potential and develop the confidence and skills to become the leaders they were born to be. Concept We want to create a place for the youth of our community, where they can meet like-minded peers and mentors, discover their passions and talents, and surround themselves with a network of supporters that believe in them. Leadership: (noun) the state or position of being a leader. Being a leader is a state of being. It starts from within. It’s being true to yourself, and in doing so, that may inspire others to follow suit.
