HBCU FOUNDERS INITIATIVE

SAN FRANCISCO, California, 94111-1720 United States

Mission Statement

The HBCU Founders Initiative is a nonprofit organization committed to locking arms with entrepreneurs and organizations that share our belief that having a diversity of ideas and perspectives is both the right thing to do and good for business.

About This Cause

Through partnerships with Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs), the HBCU Founders Initiative (HBCUFI) is engaging rising students, alumni, and faculty across all HBCUs interested in developing technology-abled solutions that close the wealth gap ranging from increasing access to healthcare, education, and financial services. From the ideation stage to the investment stage and beyond, HBCUFI offers programs, events, financial and advisory resources, and a vast network committed to supporting HBCU founders on their entrepreneurial journey. Thanks to support from generous donors, all of our programming is offered at no cost to the participants. To date, over 600 students and alumni from over 75 HBCUs have participated in the HBCU Founders Initiative. Our signature pre-accelerator program is a 8-week program held in the Fall and Spring for students attending HBCUs as well as alumni and faculty. The Pre-Accelerator program provides participants with access to office hours with experienced advisors who support them throughout the 8-week entrepreneurship curriculum. HBCUFI offers pitch competitions, financial and advisory resources, and a vast investor and corporate network committed to supporting HBCU founders on their entrepreneurial journey.
