Mission Statement
Proud Ultimate is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization whose mission is to serve, strengthen, and grow the Queer Ultimate community by creating opportunities for athletes of all ages, skills levels, and backgrounds to interact, develop, and compete. In all aspects of our work and play, we embrace and promote the Spirit of the Game. Proud Ultimate envisions a world full of joyful, healthy, compassionate, and skilled individuals who live in strong, inclusive, equitable, and interconnected communities. We use the unique sport of Ultimate to improve the lives of individuals in our LGBTQ+ community and allies, creating the future we want to see.
About This Cause
To fulfill its mission, Proud Ultimate runs several programs that provide safe, empowering spaces for LGBTQ+ athletes that play ultimate frisbee. Donations to Proud Ultimate help fund these programs, which include our regular Fall and Spring Big Gay Frisbee (BGF) leagues that welcome players of all skill and experience levels; a new intermediate/advanced league debuting in the next year; queer ultimate tournaments in San Francisco, Los Angeles, Las Vegas, with new tournaments in the works; player development boot camps for beginner and intermediate athletes looking to improve their ultimate skills; diversity and equity events (e.g., brunches, happy hours, pickup games) to ensure that we are welcoming to underrepresented groups in the queer ultimate community; and a scholarship fund to ensure that queer ultimate remains inclusive and accessible regardless of an athlete's ability to pay.
