About This Cause

Brigham Young University fulfills a vital role in advancing the educational standards promoted by The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints by developing students of faith, intellect, and character who have the skills and the desire to continue learning and serving others throughout their lives. Approximately 30,000 students study on campus each year across 10 colleges or schools. BYU president Kevin J Worthen has described the university’s role as “inspiring learning,” which helps graduates strengthen and unite diverse religious, political, and social cultures to lift humanity and expand the influence of the Church throughout the world. Donations to BYU from alumni and friends help provide students with scholarships, mentorships, internships, and study-abroad opportunities. In addition to student aid, donations assist in funding programs, constructing buildings, and fulfilling the university’s mission. Current Fundraising Priorities • Need- and merit-based scholarships • Other student aid (mentored-student learning, internship support, etc.) • College and campus-wide initiatives • Trustees and President’s Fund While corporate matches of employee donations are appreciated, they cannot be accepted as tithing or fast offerings, credited to individual missionary accounts or any other local ecclesiastical unit accounts, such as Boy Scout troops or youth programs. Corporate matches of employee donations made to any of these accounts will be credited to the Church Humanitarian Fund. Other corporate matches of employee donations will be credited to the same account designated by the employee. The acceptance of corporate matches to employee donations will be based on each individual corporation’s policies governing their matching gift program. This may preclude the Church from accepting corporate matches of employee donations or require them to be credited to other accounts that comply with corporate policies. Corporations and their employees that have questions about matching contributions may contact LDS Philanthropies at 1-801-356-5190.
