About This Cause
Edwell fosters sustainable, equitable schools through personalized virtual coaching designed for educators, helping them reflect, connect, learn, and grow personally and professionally in service of wellbeing and career sustainability. Why educator wellbeing? Teachers today are not okay. After the pandemic, teacher burnout and chronic absenteeism are at an all-time high. National surveys suggest that 55% of educators plan to leave the profession or retire early. 78% report frequent job-related stress or anxiety. Anxiety and depression are also skyrocketing among students - and while many new initiatives are focused on supporting youth mental health, there is a dearth of focus and resources on the adults who serve them. Studies show that teacher quality is the one consistent, statistically significant factor for student success - yet, many teachers lack the tools and resources to care for their own wellbeing. Edwell was founded by a team of teachers, school social workers, and coaches who have worked in schools and seen firsthand the immense emotional toll that teaching can take. We are constantly learning from educators to better define and implement what works for educator wellbeing, career satisfaction, and sustainability. After working with an edwell coach, 75% of educators demonstrate increased wellbeing.
