About This Cause
VISION: To be the aggregator of private funding directed towards US overdose response. We seek to: • grow overdose response funding from private sources (donors, family foundations, etc.), • aggregate these funds, so funders can combine resources to achieve impact at the largest possible scale, • and then direct this funding to its evidence-based highest-and-best use. CURRENT IMPACT: To date, OCRF has funded directly and incrementally life-saving overdose prevention work in 17 US states and the republic of Ukraine. This work includes... Distribution of 100,000s doses of naloxone to: • Bad River Band of Lake Superior Chippewa (Wisconsin) • Quad Cities region of Iowa & Illinois (Davenport, IA; Moline, IL) • Central Connecticut (incl. Hartford, New Haven) • Indiana (all Southern counties) • Chillicothe, OH • New Orleans, LA • Detroit, MI • Chattanooga, TN • Huntsville, AL • Oklahoma (statewide) • Little Rock, Arkansas • Central Florida • Southwest Georgia • Northeast Missouri Funded naloxone, wound care supplies, and portable generators for Club Eney, a human services organization of 30 years standing operating in Kiev, Ukraine under warzone conditions. Early funder of NEXT Distro, a nationwide mail-order service for harm reduction supplies, including naloxone Funded purchase and launch of mobile harm reduction units in New Orleans and Greenville, SC. Funded personal financial relief for founders of overdose prevention programs in Missouri, Georgia, and Florida who--in the absence of grant funding from Fed/state/county public health agencies--had had to self-fund their organizations, at the cost of their own financial hardship.
