Mission Statement

To inspire and empower Asian, Native Hawaiian and Pacific Islander Americans (ANHPIA) to develop their leadership potential through mentorship, leadership training and hands-on experience.

Vision Statement: A society in which true equal status for Asian, Native Hawaiian, and Pacific Islander Americans (ANHPIA) exists at all levels. About APICCO Internship Program: The APICCO Internship Program includes three elements: the Internship Development Program, the Legislative Internship Program, and the Train-The-Trainer Program. · Our Internship Development Program is for mentoring and training selected API college students during the summer months, preparing them for the Legislative Internship Program. · Our flagship Legislative Internship Program places graduates of the Internship Development Program as paid interns with Oregon State Legislators, governmental entities, and private sectors. · APICCO’s newest program is the Train-The-Trainer (T3) Program. It is the next step for our intern alumni to continue developing their leadership skills and upon completion, they were engaged as the facilitators for the 2023 Internship Development Program. Community Engagements: • Asian Pacific American Institute of Congressional Studies and APICCO Portland Regional Leadership Academy (RLA) & Reception; a two-day API leadership training for elected officials, individuals seeking public office, and community stakeholders. • APICCO’s annual events: Gala & VIP Reception and Holiday Celebration. • APICCO’s participation and support of our Community Partners. • Vietnamese speaking Focus Group Facilitation project. • Holiday Celebration with keynote speaker Honorable Chanpone Sinlapasai, the first ethnic Lao Circuit Judge in US history. • Emergency Broadband Benefit free cell phones with data plan for low-income and SNAP community members. • APICCO participated at the Oregon Rise Above Hate event in Old Town. • APICCO Board Members attended the Portland Police Bureau APIA Advisory Council Community Well-Being. • APICCO received a project from Centro Cultural de Washington County for TriMet Annual Service Change and Proposed Fare Increase Open House event on February 2, 2023. We exceeded our participants goal with representation from diverse API communities. • APICCO was selected to be a member on Portland General Electric Community Benefits and Impacts Advisory Group (CBIAG). CBIAG was mandated in HB2021 Clean Energy Act.
