Mission Statement
SustainSD would like to mitigate food waste, educate students on sustainability, and improve soil quality in the San Diego region. This will be done by building composts and gardens at schools in search for closed loop systems.
About This Cause
All funding will be going back into the youth of San Diego. SustainSD sees that at our current pace, our environment will change drastically soon. When this happens, we must be ready to reduce food miles and grow what we eat. We would like to minimize our negative impact on the world through mitigating techniques such as composting. The compost that is created will go into the gardens and around our city. Food that is grown in the garden will be served in the school cafeteria. What ever waste is generated will then go back into the compost. Through this system, students will see that every action has a consequence, whether good or bad, we all have an impact.
