Mission Statement
To pour love into our homeless youth community by providing an equal opportunity for them to develop and succeed, while creating a safe space where all feel seen, appreciated and encouraged.
About This Cause
Pour Over Love is a leadership development, job-training and mentorship program serving the homeless youth community. We hire, train and mentor them through a one-year transitional program to encourage, empower and enable them to pursue their passions. After the youth enter our Program, they will go through both a soft skills and technical skills training program for their first two months, including an “internship” at one of our local coffeeshop partners, where they hopefully will be employed for the remainder of the program. Throughout their year in the program, we will provide continued education and leadership development. They will learn about the importance of good customer service, professionalism, and effective communication within the team, and of course, how to properly brew and serve high-quality coffee. Each of our youth will be paired with a dedicated mentor through their time with us. Our mentorship program is much more than just a transaction between the mentor and mentee. Here, we focus on the relationship. They will be paired with a mentor who genuinely cares about their future, but first them as a person. The mentors will provide everything from career coaching to help with housing, as well as create community by surrounding them with friends who can help them grow into the best versions of themselves. Depending on each youth's specific skills and desires, once they've hit their one-year mark, they will graduate from our Program, where they will be moving on to their next job or career, to pursue their passions. Not everyone aspires to be a barista for their entire life. We’re simply providing the bridge for our employees to gain experience and learn valuable skills to make the transition.
