Mission Statement
Be The Rainbow’s mission is to bring our community together to celebrate and support LGBTQ+ visibility, equality and Pride. Be the Rainbow is a small group of queer parents and allies who came together in the spring of 2021 with a desire to celebrate the LGBTQ+ community on a local level. What started as three friends is now becoming a leading LGBTQ+ organization on the North Shore.
About This Cause
Be The Rainbow became an established 501(c)(3), hosted annual Pride festivals, added color to Port Washington’s Main Street, partnered with local community events, hosted LGBTQ+ meet-ups, teen outreach activities and monthly parent support groups. Through our inclusive programming and education, Be The Rainbow has created a visible community that has enticed new families to move to Port Washington and served as an invaluable resource to queer and questioning residents.
