Mission Statement
The Philadelphia Swing and Jazz Dance Association’s mission is to create a welcoming, active, and just home for Lindy Hop & Jazz Dance in the greater Philadelphia area through lessons, social dances, and community engagement.
About This Cause
The Philadelphia Swing and Jazz Dance Association holds regular Swing and Jazz Dance lessons and social dances. Our flagship event, Jazz Attack, occurs every Thursday evening and features beginner and intermediate lessons, and at least two hours of dancing to the area's best Swing DJ's or live bands! Some of the dance styles you will see at Jazz Attack include Lindy Hop, Balboa, Shag, Jitterbug, Charleston, Blues, and more. We recognize and honor these dances' roots in the Black community, both in music and dance, and are committed to continuously sharing this history with all of our attendees, as well as upholding its values including individuality & self-expression, connection to all parts of the music, call & response, connection to your partner and the broader community, and healthy competition. We welcome dancers and soon-to-be-dancers regardless of age, gender, race, ethnicity, religion, gender, sexual orientation, age, or ability.
