Mission Statement

Our mission is to improve the quality of life through soccer for youth and families of underserved communities. By utilizing soccer as a platform, we encourage and promote cultural exchange, understanding, and unity among diverse groups within the community.

About This Cause

Unity Futbol Training hopes by helping youth increase their creative and cognitive skills, we are encouraging our participants to develop personal responsibility, while working towards an overall positive self-image. Unity Futbol Training would like to see all children have access to equal opportunity and quality soccer programs that promote our kids identity, as well as providing a quality program. We currently have 65-75 youth engaging in our program who actively come to our Monday and Wednesday practices at McDaniel high school soccer field from 6:00pm - 7:30pm and indoor soccer at RP La Canchita Indoor Soccer field on Mondays from 5:30pm-7:00pm. Below are the descriptive time lines and goals for the remainder of calendar year for our organization: March 2024 - December 2024: Join and participate in the Portland Youth Soccer Association league for our age groups. June - August 2024: Connect with local libraries for summer reading programs. June - December 2024: Increase service hours for youth to train and play more during the summer months. Also, participate in tournaments (PCU, Mt. Challenge). July 2024: Rent a community room at AYCO to host events for health and wellness. Invite guest speakers. November 2024: Host our yearly Thanksgiving event to appreciate our sponsors, partners, parents and youth for their commitment and dedication. Community Partners and collaboration: We do believe that we bring together the broader community beyond our student, teacher, and administrator population. We have established partnerships with various organizations and community groups to achieve this goal. One such organization is the African Family Holistic Health Organization (AFHHO), which is dedicated to improving communities through health and wellness education, as well as increasing access to mental health resources. Through this partnership, we can collaborate on initiatives that promote the well-being of the community as a whole. Additionally, we have formed connections with the Portland Oromo Community Association (POCA) to reach out to families and encourage their participation in our year-round soccer program. By leveraging the resources and networks of POCA, we can engage a wider range of community members and provide them with opportunities to be part of our program. Furthermore, Unity Futbol Training (UFT) has established relationships with local elementary schools, such as Alder Elementary School and Rosa Parks Elementary School, to conduct after-school soccer activities. This allows us to extend our reach and involve students from these schools, fostering a sense of unity and community engagement. To build bridges between families from different communities through soccer, we are collaborating with the African Youth & Community Organization (AYCO). Lastly, UFT has partnered with the Portland Community Football Club (PCFC) to provide our youth with the opportunity to join the Oregon Youth Soccer Association soccer league. This collaboration allows us to meet the requirements and limitations set by the league, ensuring that our youth can participate and benefit from the broader soccer community. Overall, our program actively engages and involves the broader community through partnerships with organizations, outreach to families, collaborations with schools, and connections with local soccer associations. By doing so, we aim to create a more inclusive and unified community through the power of soccer.
