Mission Statement
HELP of Southern Nevada’s Mission Statement We serve with care. We assist families and individuals throughout Southern Nevada to overcome barriers and attain self-sufficiency through direct services, training and referral to community resources. Your help and support of our programs and services will ensure that our mission is carried forth and that we can help people help themselves by connecting them to services, training and referrals they need to be successful and self-sufficient.
About This Cause
HELP’s mission is to assist families and individuals throughout Southern Nevada to overcome barriers and attain self-sufficiency through direct services, training, and referrals to community resources. The specific programs offered by HELP include: • Behavioral Health Services - offers mental health and substance abuse services to participants residing in its various housing programs. • Community Alternative Sentencing - gives court appointed individuals the opportunity to serve the community in lieu of court fines, fees, restitution, jail, probation or as a condition of probation. • Emergency Resource Services - includes assistance with pregnancy and baby services, energy and Supplemental Needs Assistance Program (SNAP) assistance, homeless prevention, rapid rehousing, permanent supportive housing, Tenant Based Rental Assistance (TBRA), and intensive case management services. • Framing Hope Warehouse receives donated retail merchandise and building supplies from 13 Home Depot stores in Southern Nevada and redistributes these products to local nonprofits and their clientele for an affordable administrative fee. • Holiday Programs – provides food items for a traditional Thanksgiving Dinner, families participate in Adopt-a-Family, and families and children receive holiday items through the annual Toy Drive/Holiday Assistance. • Homeless Services – includes safe and affordable housing, intensive case management, addiction and behavioral health services, home and wellness visits, transportation to appointments for homeless and chronically homeless individuals. • Mobile Crisis Intervention Team (MCIT) – conducts interventions, abatements, and health and safety checks in places not meant for human habitation. • Shannon West Homeless Youth Center –assists homeless, at-risk, and former foster care youth with safe housing, case management, addiction and behavioral health services, education and career development. • Weatherization assists low-income households who cannot afford to invest in energy efficiency. These services improve energy affordability and reduce the export of local energy dollars. • W.O.R.C./ Displaced Homemaker - provides pre-employment services that empower participants to enter or re-enter the labor market through one-on-one personal or vocational counseling, job seeking and decision making skills, and methods on retaining employment. Through these programs, approximately 100,000 Southern Nevada households are assisted annually.
