Mission Statement
The MISSION of NCCF is to provide social, educational, financial and psychological support services and programs to families of ALL children diagnosed with life threatening or critical illnesses such as cancer, HIV/AIDS, sickle cell, renal, blood and immunologic diseases and to provide healing arts and wellness programs to adults touched by cancer as well as to chronically ill children and their caregivers.
About This Cause
Established in 1993, Nevada Childhood Cancer Foundation (NCCF) is a local non-profit organization providing over 45 programs and services at no cost to pediatric and adult patients and their families living in Southern Nevada. Our goal is to improve the quality of life for critically ill children, their families, and adults touched by cancer in our community. When a child is diagnosed with cancer or other life-threatening illness…they look to NCCF for support, hope, and courage. Within 24 hours of receiving a pediatric referral, the NCCF service professionals work in tandem to identify the financial, educational, and psychological needs for each family. In September 2011, NCCF announced the addition of a local foundation into its programs which provides health and wellness support to adults diagnosed and touched by cancer. The Caring Place, housed at a secondary NCCF location, serves as a complement to medical treatment by providing a health, wellness, and healing arts center for families of children diagnosed with life-threatening illnesses as well as to adults touched by cancer. In June 2008, NCCF introduced the Education Services program and opened the first in-patient classroom in the state of Nevada and the only one in the United States that is managed and facilitated by a non-profit organization serving over 140 children each year. In June 2011, NCCF became the official Nevada Chapter of the Sickle Cell Disease Association of America, Inc. NCCF was the first and is the only foundation to respond to the needs of sickle cell patients (90% African-American and 10% Hispanic) and to children with immunologic diseases. NCCF was selected by the University of Nevada, Las Vegas, as the facility for student interns completing their practicum for the UNLV Masters of Social Work program. In 2014, Jeff Gordon, President/CEO of Nevada Childhood Cancer Foundation since 1997, was named one of two Philanthropists of the Year by Governor Sandoval at the Annual Governor’s Black-Tie Gala presented by the Southern Highlands Charitable Foundation.
